Ian, I have picked up from Fran in Balitmore a vax station 3100 that uses one of those VR 260 displays I gave you, with the special video connector. http://vintagecomputer.net/digital/VR-260/ I no longer have the display so the VaxStation is of no use to me, interested in it? If so I will bring to Festivus. Or, if you don't really care about the display bring it so I can use it here, I can give you a trade for the display, I am sure I have something we can trade. vintagecomputers are basebal cards. Bill

....forgive me for jumping in, but I'm always on the lookout for VR260 and VR290/299 monitors, if anyone has any going spare. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
Before my mother passed away, she sold our family farm to the State of NJ’s Farmland Preservation Program. At my brother’s house yesterday, he handed me a VHS tape that I never knew about, but it’s from NJ News with a short interview with my mother talking about the sale. The farm had been in our family since about 1700 so it was of interest to the network. The tape is copyright by NJ News (or whatever they’re called), but the interview was done about 18 years ago. We contacted several commercial transfer companies who all declined due to copyright issues, and while I could probably write to NJ public TV to request permission to copy it, I was hoping someone on the list could do it without any fuss. This is for distribution only to family members, not for YouTube. Would someone be willing to transfer this to a DVD (or file) for the family? It’s the only video we’re aware of with our mother in in. My siblings are starting to pass, so we’re trying to get videos of family members while we still can. Please reply privately if you are able to help. Thanks Bob

Also, VAXstations run just great headless; that was a common and supported configuration when one just needed "a VAX" and not a desktop graphical workstation. I installed a few of them when I worked in the defense industry when the 3100 was new, all headless. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
