Did anyone hear of *JAWNCON.ORG <http://JAWNCON.ORG>* and if so are you going? I heard about it on the latest Hackaday newsletter. It is nearby me, but the cost is $100 and I don't want to waste the resources if it is a crap event.
I run the event; if ya dont feel like coming, the talks are streamed for free! On October 10, 2024 11:45:49 AM EDT, Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Cool! I am definitely interested in coming, but I just found out about it and might not be available. Glad someone on this mailing list is involved. Is this a new event? I will definitely be checking out the stream. I was particularly intrigued by the "curmudgeon" events. I feel like I qualify! It's our second year; students are free, the paid tickets helps offset the OPEX for their attendance. The goal of the conference is to get a relationship built between the younger folks and older generations. Check out the streams! We will still sell admission at the door, but can issue an IOU paper badge for when we get another run of PCB badges afterwards. Thank ya! Russ On 10/10/24 12:54, Chris Fala wrote:

Hey, I didn’t realize Dr. Russ was on this list. Probably wasn’t paying close enough attention. Hello! In any case, it’s a legit event run by good folks. I haven’t been personally since the predecessor WOPR Summit (at which I ran an ill-fated workshop on ESP32 and NFC readers), but much of the same crew. David Ryskalczyk is a frequent attendee, I believe, and could probably give some good pointers. I wish I could attend myself, but time is not on my side these days. Some day! Here’s the Hackaday report from the inaugural one: https://hackaday.com/2023/11/13/jawncon-0x0-a-strong-start-with-a-bright-fut... - Dave

Looks neat. Two full days of security con with the sideshow stuff. Go for it and let us know how it is! Small cons are awesome! I wasn't aware of the WOPR Summit thing in Philly either. Going to need something to replace Shmoocon for me after next year's final event. - Ethan On Thu, 10 Oct 2024, Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic wrote:
