Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Schematic work needed
this is for a presentation slide, not to build the thing
No. This is for anyone to view so they can make the card for their own use. On Wed, Aug 29, 2018, 2:19 PM RETRO Innovations via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

And, if that's the goal, then I don't see why 100% perfection is needed, and thus I agree the effort is much more manageable. However, I will again note, that's not what the original request stated.
In fact, I would agree with you that simply a block diagram should suffice for such a slide.

Then precision is a must. On Wed, Aug 29, 2018 at 3:18 PM Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Jon C. is correct that he tried telling me this isn't a simple task -- but that didn't entirely sink into my thick skull. :) My goal is not to produce any boards -- it's for anyone to be able to download the schematic and make the boards themselves. Thinking aloud: - Both cards (Apple/IBM) are useless without the interface board. - The interface board is agnostic -- it's the same for either card. - Apple II card schematic already exists, so maybe I should prioritize getting one for the interface board ahead of one for the IBM card. - In case I wasn't clear enough: the new web site is an Evan project, not a VCFed project. I hoped to have it ready in conjunction with the VCF booth @ Maker Faire, but I'll live without it.
IMO, it's not worthwhile to try and reproduce the Lego control box at this point. They're readily available online, often for less than the parts would cost, and even if you did copy the circuit board, you're still left with the enclosure and the proprietary 4.5V connectors. The interface boards are definitely worth at least having schematics for, being as how they're a) quite rare and b) STUPID expensive online. Thanks, Jonathan On Thu, Aug 30, 2018 at 2:25 PM Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I only see one on eBay right now. It's $79.99 OBO. There are four on Bricklink ranging from $69.95-$105.39.

I think tinkerers wouldn't care about the enclosures. Proprietary connectors? Please explain.
