https://www.thomasmsmithfuneralhome.com/m/obituaries/Daniel-Roganti/Memories Two things stood out to me. 1. Danny? Who knew! Mindy said he was always "Uncle Danny" to her cousins. 2. It's very humbling that VCF is the preferred charity. I was surprised by that. Dan was and still is all about helping his friends and doing things that are awesome. Does anyone want to have a local (NJ) memorial gathering? (I know lots of us including me would like to be there on Saturday but cannot.) Or do you guys think keeping it up virtually is the better way, knowing that Dan would certainly understand? This weekend is tough for me other than perhaps Saturday brunch. I think we should schedule something for another time (farther down the road) so more people can attend. I also want to do something to more permanently honor his legacy. I don't know what. I have some ideas and will share them with the VCF board. On Sun, Sep 2, 2018, 7:34 PM Evan Koblentz <evan@vcfed.org> wrote:
Dan asked me to share this after he passed. He said his sister took him to see Stayin' Alive in 1977 and then his brother took him to see Star Wars. He thought this mash-up was hysterical (via Jimmy Fallon show). Per his request, here's a longer version thanks to editing from Amiga Bill Winters.
This weekend is out for me, daughter getting married in Virginia. Can we plan something on another weekend soon? Agree strongly with the alternate weekend. Sadly, I can't get out to Pittsburgh. And as Evan stated, it will allow time to come up with an appropriate tribute to an exceptional person. Dean On Mon, Sep 3, 2018 at 4:46 PM Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Set up a table dedicated to showcase his favorite systems or something at the next VCF East. On Mon, Sep 3, 2018, 10:31 AM Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I like that idea. Did he have any unused T-shirt designs? Or maybe a montage of those that were used, like a retrospective. He had one design that I rejected because it was too busy/complicated. We ended up using a tiny part of it as the whole design -- that was the black shirt with the orange "Steve and Silent Woz" spoof, re: Jay and Silent Bob. Dan then had a single shirt made of the unsanctioned full design for himself. Maybe we can get that one.
It's been sad to hear about Dan. The bright light in all this is the support the friends and community has given and continues to in his honor. I always enjoyed meeting and chatting with him on my visits out there. My small tribute is to just pull out all the past VCF East shirts I have all with his designs. I couldn't figure out any better way to share this, so here's a link below with what I have and this thread is relevant. https://i.imgur.com/eggIXY8.jpg

This might be the one you're thinking of? https://www.flickr.com/photos/ragooman/5614360331/in/album-72157627022888344...
I have been thinking about a New Jersey memorial gathering for Dan for those of us who can’t make it to New Kensington this weekend. I think we should put some serious thought into this, to hold it when the most people are available to attend, and, most importantly, to make an effort to get his daughters there. Perhaps we can pay for a train ticket or something. I would like to be able to share our experiences with them, and would love to hear their stories too. What do you all think? Maybe early October? Quite possibly. Maybe do it at a restaurant instead of at InfoAge. That would give us more flexibility and, of course, Dan (and us) all like to eat and drink! Someone suggested doing it as part of Festivus. That could work equally well. I know Dan badly wanted to attend Festivus last year, and he was very sad about having to miss it.
I think the festivus event is a good idea because it gives time to put it on people's calendars. I think it's enough advance notice.

True. We could bring in Mindy/Katie by Skype/Hangout/Facetime. There's a big TV on the wall in the room we use for the party. It's three months away though.
Don't have a lot of time to respond, because of finishing up my grad courses, but my opinion is to do something soon that is a small gathering, then do something at Festivus to honor him. We can also do something at VCF East as well, but doing something at Festivus gives us time to plan and figure out something great. By the way Festivus is December 1 & 2. I will put out a separate reminder announcement soon. As for the t-shirt designs, Dan shared with me many of the rejected ones. I believe that they are on his website. Don't have time to track it down right now, but will later. I think ithat his website is rogotronics?
