MARCH contact info (Dayton Microcomputer Association)
I'm a member of a Dayton Ohio user group [might start] a master listing of computer clubs around the world or country I had suggested that APCUG www.apcug2.org set up a master list o
For what it's worth, I looked over the Dayton Microcomputer Association (DMA) Web site and glanced at some of their activities. My review was brief but informative. https://dma1.org/sigs/ They seem to have interests in older computing and microprocessor computing, through their SIG's (subgroups) which meet in several Dayton areas. The club began in the very vintage era (as did I). So there's some overlap among my vintage computing interests. I spent some time in Ohio, and Dayton is the location of world's largest hamfest (and one of the oldest-active hamfests). One of the SIGs meets at a Dayton radio amateur location. I'm saying, there's stuff going on there in Dayton OH. Separately: The DMA is a member of a "club of clubs" called APCUG www.apcug2.org which seems to be an affiliation of computing-related clubs. MOst of course deal with modern or recent computing, some do not. How VCF Inc. responds to the posted request is up to the VCF inc. officers. But it may be useful to open lines of communications to these groups and see if there's common interests. And of course, it's an opportunity to inform them about MARCH and VCF events. Also, MARCH members outside of New Jersey may be interested in organizations near to them, such as may be found within the APCUG, or have interest in the DMA of Dayton OH. Sadly, no more. They moved the hamfest to Xenia, OH 7 or 8 years ago. 73 Eugene W2HX My Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@w2hx/videos -----Original Message----- From: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic-bounces@lists.vcfed.org> On Behalf Of Herbert Johnson via vcf-midatlantic Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2025 1:45 PM To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: Herbert Johnson <hjohnson@retrotechnology.info> Subject: [vcf-midatlantic] MARCH contact info (Dayton Microcomputer Association)

Demolishing the venue was definitely impactful. I went over a dozen times back in the day, but haven't been able to swing the timing since they moved. -ethan

My first Dayton Hamvention was 1982 and in the 1990s, DMA ran the Dayton Computer Convention in the same space (all indoors though, no outside flea market). DMA always had a history exhibit at their own event with multiple wire-rack shelves like the VCF Museum setup, but intended to be transportable. I'm just 90 min away but there's not a lot of reach into Central Ohio. DMA has kind of always done their own thing in their own area. Not a denigration, just an observation that they work locally. So, mosly just a couple comments that I've seen them and some of the stuff they've done around here in the past 30-40 years. -ethan
Just noticing this post upon doing a search for something else. Someone from that group approached us about doing a VCF Ohio. We had discussions and then there was no response after repeated emails. VCF would love to work with any vintage computer group to support them and grow the hobby.
