We're thinking about moving the date for VCF East 2022 one week earlier to April 22,23,24. Here is our reasoning why these are better dates: 1) Our teachers, including Jeff and Adam, don’t need to take extra days off work (unpaid) for setup because it is spring break and many schools are closed. 2) Children can come to classes on Friday because most schools are closed for spring break. Tony and Adam will be setting up the Apple 2 classroom and many schools have spring break so we hope more kids will attend. 3) InfoAge has another event the same weekend and we don't want to interfere. 4) It does not conflict with Easter and most who celebrate Passover. 5) Hotel rates are lower than the Shore Season. -- ========================================= Jeff Brace Vice President & Board Member Vintage Computer Festival East Show-runner Vintage Computer Federation is a 501c3 charity http://www.vcfed.org/ jeffrey@vcfed.org

$$$CHA-CHING$$$ WIN!!! I don't see any negatives for the change in dates. Dumb luck would have the weather be bright and sunny on the original date and horridly rainy on the new dates... but we can't predict or control that anyway. Jeff Salzman

Yeah, bring proper clothing like raincoat, umbrella hoodie, etc. It’s the rainy season so expect cold and rainy.

I like the sound of this. In the era of the outdoor tents for presentations, I was not a fan of the March and April dates as I frequently got too cold out there, or had a hard time hearing the speakers on windy days. Now that we have the newer indoor spaces I think these dates work great.
Hotel rates are lower than the Shore Season. This past weekend cost me more per-day than staying in Silicon Valley for VCFW, so this sounds good to me.
The college kids won't have to worry about finals yet, so that's good. Gotta think of our next generation of enthusiasts. -Alexander 'Z' Pierson

That's definitely a reason to shift, just for on-site simplicity, not just the other (external) reasons. I was looking forward to the original dates because I have a different event on the weekend of 22-24 April, Penguicon, an Open Source convention in Detroit MI. I am probably the only person who would likely attend both, so it's not much of an actual date conflict for VCF East. I agree with the other observation that March/April dates were less comfortable when we had the tent. The newer indoor space makes that a non-issue now. -ethan

OK. It was decided that we would go with the date change to April 22, 23, 24. Sorry for those that can't make it! :( Herb also pointed out to me privately some potential conflicts with some hamfests, but they haven't scheduled their shows yet. So the best I can do in that area is give them a heads up to our show and hope that they chose a different date. Thanks everyone! Jeff,
A good idea on all fronts, however looking at the Key Date chart, what IA event are you talking about?
Diver Dan reported that he has his Diver Symposium the last weekend of April every year.
