How many of us still have 10Base5 splinters? ;-)
How many of us still have 10b5? Why you you get splinters from it?
I think it is okay the put one of the terminators on one side of the T, connect to the terminal server and run the other end of the cable to the T at the switch and terminate the other side of that T.
I do recall that the coax had to be certain length. But I can't recall the lengths.
The recommended interval between T-connectors was 1/2 meter. 10b5 was easy because the tap intervals were marked on the "pipe."

From working on the 10base5 cable ends. Thicknet was thick ridged and didn't like to be moved around. The ends would fray and become a mess and you'd have to fiddle with it to get it to work properly. I just remember the frayed ends being a bit brittle and leaving 'splinters' which would poke your fingers and hands. Nasty. Thinnet was easier to handle and I recall a thin thinnet which was even easier to handle. Thinnet (10Base 2) was the stuff I was thinking of when mentioning the Ts. PS: CDL (actually me) has an AUI to 10BaseT adapter if needed for borrowing. Thinnet (10Base 2) was the stuff I was thinking of when mentioning the Ts.
Fun fact: it's electrically compatible, assuming your segment is under the length restrictions of 10BASE-2. You can literally put a BNC to N conversion in and run it like that. You can even get BNC "taps" to plug into old thicknet MAUs! Thanks, Jonathan
