Since travel from Iowa to New Jersey will take about 16 hours, it seems prudent to split the trip over two days, stopping somewhere around Toledo to Cleveland. Anyone privy to options for a layover in those parts? Jim -- RETRO Innovations, Contemporary Gear for Classic Systems www.go4retro.com store.go4retro.com
Hey Jim, Not too far from Cleveland in the Pittsburgh area, Dave McGuire has an awesome computer museum with lots of big iron. If it isn’t too far out of your way, it’s worth stopping by. Of course, check with Dave first. Dave? Dave? McGuire? https://www.mact.io/ Chris On Apr 18, 2022, at 1:09 AM, RETRO Innovations via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote: Since travel from Iowa to New Jersey will take about 16 hours, it seems prudent to split the trip over two days, stopping somewhere around Toledo to Cleveland. I should note that, because we just landed a truck there, LSSM is not in a publically-visible configuration at the moment. People are welcome to stop by on their way to/from VCF, as many people do, but the main exhibit floor is currently a huge mess. If that's ok, email us at info@lssmuseum.org to let us know when you'll be stopping by. We're cleaning things up as quickly as we can, but we are badly short-handed, so everything takes a lot longer than it should. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Let me see if Ethan Dicks can make any recommendations. Not sure if Matt Patoray knows that area.

I do not have any suggestions. I live 2 hours from Cleveland and 2.5 hours from Toledo and practically never drive between them (I avoid the Ohio Turnpike). I do know a lot about western PA, the New Castle and Butler area (from the Ohio line to where I-79 crosses I-80). I run that road multiple times a year, but not I-80 where it's the turnpike. -ethan

I'm not a huge fan of the turnpike either, and Google says it's only half an hour longer to go via Indy to Columbus on Day 1 (I-74 -> I-70 -> I-76), so I may travel that path. Jim -- RETRO Innovations, Contemporary Gear for Classic Systems www.go4retro.com store.go4retro.com
You might look at taking I-78 instead of I-76, nicer drive, no tolls. They are substantial if you don't have EZ-Pass Thanks, Jonathan -------- Original Message -------- On Apr 20, 2022, 3:04 PM, RETRO Innovations via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Indeed, someone off list told me about it. I checked. $49.50 to use I-76 Thanks for the alternative. We in the flyover states just don't think about toll roads... The Ohio Turnpike is only $15.00 for the entire length. I have EZPass, but man, that's a tough pill to swallow. Jim
Yeah I hate it and will basically only use it to avoid accidents or bad weather. It is a terrible quality road for the price! Thanks, Jonathan -------- Original Message -------- On Apr 20, 2022, 3:48 PM, RETRO Innovations via vcf-midatlantic wrote:
