this is a spam post. The title of the video is deceptive, it leads to an ad video with no actual content about the Atari ST. Please check your link. b On Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 10:19 AM Bruce via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Let's get something straight here. I posted a link that worked for me. I did not add any string or code that led to an ad. YouTube did that. If this is the kind of reception I'm going to get when posting potentially interesting content to this group, then this group can go hang. I don't really care either way myself. I'm just pointing out that you posted " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LxPEz9x2fs&t=227s ". The "t=227s" at the end is the timestamp. If someone clicks on the link, it goes to that part of the video, which is the embedded PCBway ad at the end (no way to avoid that because it's part of the video, not something YouTube adds). I can share the same link without the timestamp: https://youtu.be/6LxPEz9x2fs or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LxPEz9x2fs , so that it starts at the beginning of the video. So that's where the confusion was with some people and on your end. No big deal. ======================================================== Bill Loguidice, Managing Director; Armchair Arcade, Inc. <https://armchairarcade.com/perspectives/> ======================================================== Managing Director; fullSTEAMahead365.com <https://www.fullsteamahead365.com/> ======================================================== Authored Books <http://www.amazon.com/Bill-Loguidice/e/B001U7W3YS/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_1> and Film <http://www.armchairarcade.com/film>; About me and other ways to get in touch <http://about.me/billloguidice> ======================================================== On Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 10:41 AM Bruce via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

And I suspect this wasn’t intentional spam on the part of Bruce so much as that’s where he stopped playing the video after watching the content, so that’s where the time marker was when copying and pasting. :-) That’s a goof I’ve made dozens of times (still marginally better than attaching all the tracking gunk that’s at the end of the line, which I have ALSO done loads of times). No harm, no foul. - Dave
Let me apologize. What you did post looked like spam, intentional or not. You state it wasn't, ok. Then I apologize. On Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 10:42 AM Bruce via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

The link works for me. You should know by now that YouTube attaches ads to videos. Here's a trick. (Don't spread it, I don't want YouTube to learn about it, even though others already know.) Click on the tool that looks like a diode at the bottom left of the video. The moment a new video appears, click on the back icon on your browser. These operations will take about 5 seconds, max, but will return you to the video you want without having to watch the ad. (I think this trick also works on ads in the middle of videos, but haven't tested that exhaustively.) Bruce, In a group like this one, it wise to send worry-free links to actual content or people will ban your posts and you're wasting your time mailing the group. It's not YouTube adding videos to ads in this case. For those of us with YouTube pro accounts, we never see ads. They're referring to the link with the 227 seconds in timestamp that goes directly to the PCBway ad that the video uploader included at the end. There's no way to skip that. It's just a bad copy and past of the video link. ======================================================== Bill Loguidice, Managing Director; Armchair Arcade, Inc. <https://armchairarcade.com/perspectives/> ======================================================== Managing Director; fullSTEAMahead365.com <https://www.fullsteamahead365.com/> ======================================================== Authored Books <http://www.amazon.com/Bill-Loguidice/e/B001U7W3YS/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_1> and Film <http://www.armchairarcade.com/film>; About me and other ways to get in touch <http://about.me/billloguidice> ======================================================== On Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 10:37 AM Bruce via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

^^^^^ This. Was a simple case of grabbing a link with the extra characters in it to the ad. A simple fix and a simple copy/paste issue. It’s not spam. I know I’ve pasted links and missed a character, grabbed the Google link instead of the direct link, etc. I’m sure there’s someone on here that has never made a mistake, but I’m definitely not one of them!! ;-) Don’t sweat it Bruce. Content is always appreciated, even if there’s an ad in it! :p Tony Bogan

Dude clicked copy video at current time versus copying the URL. Strip off the position market. NBD. Also, Don't you all use AdBlock Plus like the rest of the world? Also, did a $770 order with PCBWay a few months ago for color LED replacement boards from the community that replace the orange dot matrix displays in pinball machines with color RGB LED panels. PCBWay did a good job fwiw. Also, pretty wild to see Atari ST still in use! I wonder how many random small businesses out there have stuck to their original tools not wanting to learn something new. C64s and Apple IIs and IBM minis. - Ethan
Oops on t=227 ; mistakes like this happen. It's the thought that counts. It's cool this is still in use today. The ST with mono monitor was perfect for business uses in the 80s. Easy on the eyes 70hz and pretty crisp resolution for the size. (I.e. equivalent to people who use 1080p with 24-27" monitor sizes). Whenever I use an ST (or an Amiga) and it's been a while I always feel a sense of guilt and worry about turning it off via power switch without first "shutting down". Lol.
