Needed SD card solutions for museum
We have already had some people donate SD card solutions to the museum which makes doing demos much easier. I'm looking for people to donate an SD card solution for the machines in the museum. This list of machines that need them are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sfGEttaQZUwEH7bkvErH1Aey9AdvdwepWooV... Let me know if you want to donate any of these or if you have any questions. Thanks! ========================================= Jeff Brace Vice President & Board Member Vintage Computer Festival East Show-runner Vintage Computer Federation is a 501c3 charity http://www.vcfed.org/ jeffrey@vcfed.org
If you let me buy the XT-IDE in KIT form, I will buy TWO for the museum, one for the PC Convertible and one for the 5150. I will build them myself and bring them to the next workshop (most likely in May.) Just let me know and I'll pull the trigger on the order... because I'm going to buy another one for my own 5160, too. :) On Tue, Apr 20, 2021 at 9:39 AM Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Also, for the TI-99/4A, add the 32K/TIPI board. It adds 32K memory, and uses a Raspberry PI Zero to act as a storage device WITH FujiNet like access to files and the Internet. I tried to add it to the Google Doc, but I didn't have write access to it. It's currently a few weeks behind in production, but should be available soon. If you order it with a Pi Zero, ready to go, you can get it for about $95 plus shipping, and add your own MicroSD card. Well I miss spoke What I meant to say was an, “SD card solution for an XT machine” CF would probably work just fine. I’m assuming I could use a CF card solution on a XT - IDE card? Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

A friend just gave me his old Heathkit H89 system, along with a library of about 150 hard sectored disks (that need tested). CP/M, HDOS, utilities, and games are part of the collection. I know it's not an SD solution for the H89 in the museum, but if we don't have a quality selection of software in the museum for it, we can probably build a collection of disks for use from what I have on hand. I have to fix my H89 before I can test the disks I have. Otherwise, perhaps I can use the museum H89 for testing the floppies, and hoping to get something cool running on the museum H89. Hi, While I might be wrong, I remember having a conversation with Alex Bodnar a few years ago about the H-89 in which he told me both hard & soft-sectored controllers were available for it. We were discussing it because I had obtained an H-89 conversion kit for the H-19 terminal & I thought my only floppy option involved hard-sectored media. You may want to check with Alex as he is extremely knowledgeable about the Heathkit systems. Unfortunately, I don't have an email address at hand for him. There is a read-only firmware for the GOTek on Heath hard sectored. We have instructions. Contact me off list for more info. With soft sectored controller board you can have full access via gotek.

Wow! I would love to have that machine running. Even if it is with original disks. Even better if there was an SD solution. I don't know the condition of the machine as it has never been tested and so far no one has volunteered to check it out. If you need Alex Bodnar's e-mail address, then I can send it to you.

Jeff, It looks like the HXC folks are actively working to remove bugs from their software, for H89s: https://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1777&start=300 The guy who runs the project, also named Jeff, is very responsive, and is very helpful in any debugging that needs to be done. The software supports both Gotek drives and the dedicated high-quality HXC units: https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/SDCard_HxC_Floppy_Emulato... - Alex On Fri, May 7, 2021 at 18:10 Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Jeff: suggest you join the SEBHC list. we're a very active group supporting the H8 and H89. Lots of expertise there including former employees of Heath and the supporting vendor community. https://groups.google.com/g/sebhc strong signal to noise ratio on the list. We have an extensive library of disk images but it's always worth archiving more. Come to that list or contact me off the VCF list for more details on how to capture the images you have and/or resources and pointers to get your '89 humming. - Glenn
