I have gone on two computer rescues in West Virginia, you never know what might be there, I can say that for sure. Thanks for the tip, although it would take me about 6 hours... Bill On Tue, Jun 6, 2023 at 8:04 PM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Thanks for the link! That's pretty close to the farm, might have to try and make it out. FYI the town it's in is pronounced "Hurr-a-kun."

There was actually some hardware development going on in WV in the 1970s, if not earlier. Eagle River (iirc) in Charleston (still around) produced S-100 data acquisition boards. The mining and chemical industries of course would've been switching to computerization. I went to school in Beckley for a number of years and knew a bunch of vintage computer/gaming nerds, not *super* surprising someone's put together an event! Thanks, Jonathan
I was activated by the coast guard to do technical work for six months in Kerneyville WV during COVID. The government has a lot of places set up in WV. Not just USCG, and they have a lot of IT people. There are a lot of misconceptions about WV. I would go to this but it is a 9hr drive. I went to Boatfest over the weekend, pretty cool little event! I only had time to hang out part of the day Saturday. Definitely a gaming focus; of course, there's nothing wrong with that. The oldest stuff in the room was probably Apple IIs. Quite a few new games released on vintage systems and retro styled games being played/displayed. Friendly crowd, nice location. I hadn't been to Hurricane in a long time, the area around the event is definitely a successful downtown reboot, and there's hotels not far from the event space. Cool, I would have liked to have gone. I'm going to look to see if they posted any pics or videos On Mon, Jun 26, 2023, 2:32 PM Jonathan Chapman <lists@glitchwrks.com> wrote:
