I'm a bit confused, and likely missed something. What are these "teams" I'm hearing about for VCF? Are we doing both individual exhibits as well as group/team exhibits? One of the things I know I'd like to see are "Awards" for various exhibits. While most if not all of us are exhibiting for fun/historical/educational reasons. It would kind of be nice to be recognized and acknowledged by the organization for the work we all put into our exhibits. I also believe that it could increase the quality of some of the exhibits, as well allowing for more focused exhibits. Also I feel that it could attract both more exhibitors, as well as more visitors to the festival, as competition is human nature. Joe -- Normal Person: Hey, it seems that you know a lot. Geek: To be honest, it's due to all the surfing I do. Normal Person: So you go surfing? Normal Person: But I don't think that has anything to do with knowing a lot... Geek: I think that's wrong on a fundamental level. Normal Person: Huh? Huh? What?

Trying something different this year. The show will still have regular exhibits -- lots of 'em! -- but we arranged three "mega exhibits" to honor the 40th anniversary of the Apple II, Commodore PET 2001, and TRS-80 Model 1. These exhibits will be full-ish timelines of ALL vintage computers from those brands, with each team having 4-6 members, several tables, a captain, team name, and a prize for the best team. As discussed by members on the list, the teams are: Commodorians, TRanSistors, and AppleDappleDude.

YES.

We used to do that, but it fell aside due to bandwidth/resources. Maybe we'll bring it back...

To that end, just like any other exhibit/show, the judging and awards should be given out before the actual show starts, so attendees will see which exhibits won the formal categories. The first to smoke and people's choice can be done too, tallied at the end and announced via the mailing list or web site. Bill

I doubt we would have time for that. Most exhibits are not "done" (and therefore fully judge-able) until Saturday morning, when you, me, and everyone else in VCFed management are running around like headless chickens. :) Sellam Ismail, Lee Felsenstein, CHM curator Chris Garcia, and I were the judges at VCF West this summer. It took several hours of serious effort on Sunday afternoon.
