Re: [vcf-midatlantic] 1990s Unix Workstation Sub-Group
I've had a bit of Unix Experience. I had a chance to get a number of Octanes and Indigos with 20"+ sized screens and likely real time video capture/editing cards. They were the editing workstations for Fox. But at the time I had no place to put them. On Mon, Jan 7, 2019, 3:46 PM m simons via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org wrote:
Yes, I'm interested in this sort of thing. SGI machines and IRIX are beautiful. X windows on other *nix'es. Heck, I've got an enclosed server rack and numerous servers just looking for a home in order to turn them into machines to play around with and host interesting projects.

However, I'm not a discord/slack/etc. fan. I propose keeping discussion on this list, or on the existing VCFed message board. I agree with Ethan and Mike: no more new comms methods. They just serve to scatter information. Now, an official VCFed wiki, on the other hand, would be quite welcome, and would be useful to fans of all vintage software and hardware.
