My eye spies something blue , reprint from CDL list
This is a reposting of part of a message from the CDL list. Thought a few folks over here might be interested in the Hako. A visitor name Alison (sp?) dropped by and needed some help with desoldering a RP2040 board from a board. She soldered it backwards. While showing off our tools I noticed that the blue Hako FR-802 had a handle and nozzle on it. Throwing caution to the wind (pun intended) I started up the Hako and began to use the hot air nozzle on the board. I do need to find the manual and read it as it works really well but my inexperience with it became evident quickly. The header pin plastic parts melted, the board became unsoldered but so did every surface mount chips on the little stand off board. I think I saved all the parts. I many attempt to solder the parts back on but I'd call this board a loss. On the plus side we did get the board and the header pins all removed. I really do want to thank Martin for the Hako, the stand and the vises. All three items were put to use today to mostly good effect. 😄 We'll need to come with procedures to use the Hako. PS: Resoldering the RP2040 is probably going to have zero chance of being successful. It's a QFH-56 part and I have no hope of seeing where the chip is in relation to the pads. :-) -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
