With the last work weekend in the Building 9001, CDL now has static IP space available. To that end, we are spinning up a Citadel BBS on current HPE hardware. This a simple support decision as running 30+ year old kit in a production environment is more then we want to tackle. Going to throw this out to to the membership for naming options, here's a few contenders, would like to hear opinions * CampEvans * TheFort * ProjectDiana * CDL * Tiros * graybeard Dialup from off-site is not an option at this point, we can support it on-site if needed for VCFe (via a Cisco 2600 with a 24 port card) Martin Flynn
If off-site dialup is desired, a side project of mine has been related to using voip as an effective solution for low to mid bitrate dial up connections. I'd be happy to share my insights. Voip solutions can be fairly cost effective and simple for such purposes of providing a line or two. Josh, Will loop you into the startup discussion, may not get to PSTN dial up access for a bit. Have a really neat local number parked when we get to that point: (848) 274-2600 Martin On 12/20/2020 12:35 PM, Joshua Abraham via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

I think Camp Evans BBS would be best for uniqueness, marketing, and location.

I also like “CampEvans” as the name for the BBS. Completely possible - CDL & VCF have been expanding the "backbone" cover additional building at Camp Evans. List includes: Building 9059 (telephone building), 9010 (first H Building), 9031 (the firehouse), 9093 (the guard shack), and Building 9010 (Hotel first floor and Wi-Fi). Next building is 9036, which will put the warehouse on the backbone as well. W2CDL of course! There's a Kantronics KAM Plus and MTR2000 sitting in the Makerspace waiting to go on the air. Martin On 12/22/2020 7:53 PM, Jeff Salzman via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Cool! I'm in "3 zone", so I have to find a chain of nodes or internet tunnels that will get me to W2CDL. What port will you be using? -1, -7, etc? On Tue, Dec 22, 2020, 8:30 PM Martin Flynn via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:
