Video Game maintenance/repair for Museum Of The Moving Image (NYC)
Hi Off/on topic I suppose. I may post this on the reg forum but I thought I'd go here first... start this in the family as such haha. I've been approached by the Museum Of The Moving Image in Queens (NYC) as they are looking for someone to maintain/repair their collection of around 50 vintage 1980s arcade games. This is an hourly position from what I understand. This is out of my league, and my time is limited. I am just a computer/electronics hobbyist (and perhaps was foolish to tell them so haha) but -- I also would like to help them out, and I'd love to see these games see the light of day. There are some wonderful pieces in the collection (inc sit down version of Star Wars! Battlezone! I'm such a sucker for those vector games...) I am curious if you or anyone you might know would be capable/interested in something like this. I imagine it's ok if you're out of town and willing to come in -- but probably best if you're in/near NYC. The museum is walking distance from my home, and I'm willing to do some assisting. I'm supposed to go in next Tuesday and take a look. Egad. Haha. Thanks Walter ++++++++++++++++++++++ https://jwalterhawkes.com like to know where/when I'm playing? That's a cool museum name. Hope one of our folks gets involved! I'll bet there something you can do for them, if even to start to clean them up and maybe research the repairs and do them as you find adequate online instructions. On 7/21/2023 2:26 PM, Blatboy via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

I have been there multiple times, it's a nice place to go. I actually contributed to their Kick Starter for the Jim Henson Collection. And they did a screening for the anniversary of Tron, which was great. This is the website: https://movingimage.org/ If you go I suggest finding an event. They do a lot of screenings https://movingimage.org/events/list/ On Mon, Jan 29, 2024 at 11:19 AM Douglas Crawford via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

If I had a bit more experience and didn’t live by Philly that be a nice job. I hope someone on the list takes the opportunity! -Ian L. On Mon, Jan 29, 2024 at 11:45 Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Hello! And so have I. I live extremely close to it. And that is the American Museum of the Moving Image. My Star Trek IV posture came from there. But why is there a velociraptor in the mens bunkroom wearing a fur coat over his fuzzy coated skin, now asleep there?
