List support, another update
1:45AM ET -- Heard back from the support people. They created a new list, on the same server as ours, using the the same settings -- and they were unable to replicate our problem. Below is the message they sent me verbatim: ================================== Hi Evan, After running the test list on the server you are on, I've set the following on your list - so that it matches what we used on the test list. ****************** Content filtering: Should Mailman collapse multipart/alternative to its first part content? (Edit collapse_alternatives) YES Should Mailman convert text/html parts to plain text? This conversion happens after MIME attachments have been stripped. (Edit convert_html_to_plaintext) NO ***************** We tested sending HTML emails and plain text emails, and used several email programs to check reception. In every case, the subject and message body is showing as correct. In short, we haven't been able to replicate the issue as described. Mail sending and reception tested on: Thunderbird Alpine SquirrelMail Roundcube Gmail.com Yahoo.com AOL.com There is nothing in the log files reporting errors on your list. So at this point we are none the wiser as to why this is only happening for users on your list. A last ditch effort would be to remove your list completely, and create a new one. This would just be voodoo if it made any difference at all - as there is nothing logical about why that would make a difference. Before we do that though, you may want to try one last message to the list to test the change I made. I suspect all your members are getting fed up with test messages.

Well, this is the same tech support from Australia ? Probably works fine over there I would suggest to have them remote login to here in the USA and try this test Because none of us are imagining this I still get a SPF Fail on your email, with the IPv6 address designation The only reason it doesn't get pushed into the Spambox is because I had to add another Email Filter But I still get the SPF Warning Banner at the top of the email when I open your message. Have them to look at the message source of our emails, not theirs. Dan

They already did that. In the previous test of few of them joined our list. Anyway, the most important things are that people receive our messages, and the messages aren't blank. Will see how people respond throughput today.

This message is intentionally left *un-blank* (that word was bold, format stripped?). Also my first attempt at Gmail web interface bottom posting. Feedback?

Correct me if I'm mistaken, But I recall this error is not generated by the Mailing List Server. Rather, it's checked at the Mailing Server on the client end. So how could they see our problems in the first place then ? I would think the message source with the SPF Fail is _only_ in our email box not in that Mailing List Server. Dan

Actually, I think it's kind of entertaining. Anyway, I use thunderbird and gmail and seem to have some of the same problems with blank messages and messages showing up as attachments. But am patiently waiting for it to be sorted. - Derrik
