Festivus Entertainment Thread
Who is bringing what for entertainment? Equipment, games, DVDs?
Who is bringing what for entertainment? Equipment, games, DVDs?
We have a projector (thanks to Corey C.) but the new room doesn't have a screen unlike the old event room. (There will be a screen and ceiling projector in the classroom down the hall, but I don’t think those are installed yet.) We do have a large flat screen monitor (or TV, I forget which) from David G. which we could lean against something because it lacks a stand. (Eventually we'll mount it on a wall.) We also have several TVs. Most are smallish and of the cable-ready variety. Ian -- you shouldn't have to bring all that stuff. If anyone's interested, I have a DVD of the John Mauchly keynote (introduced by Claude Kagan!) from the 1977 Trenton show.
Were you able to get a copy of "Parallax"? On Nov 18, 2015, at 12:27 AM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

That's actually a good idea, I am sure they'd be happy to provide one, and there are some MARCH artifacts in the film. Of course NEXT next Festivus will be XMEN .
I am bringing A LOT of Star Trek, series and movies. Also, how about Office Space, Groundhog Day, Back To the Future, Princes Bride.... Anyone? Anyone? On Nov 25, 2015, at 4:41 PM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic<vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

why not simply bring a laptop that can connect to a projector and use Netflix to download and stream these movies. Everything you have listed is already available on Netflix. Botta bing. Done. BUT I thought we were going to watch Parallax? If so, we need a DVD player (computer). -- Bill
I thought we were going to watch Parallax?
We are, but there is plenty of time to have many different screenings...
If so, we need a DVD player
Yup. Someone please bring a laptop w/ DVD player. Haven't heard from Ian in a while. He usually brings a sound system. I will reach out to him.

Any "LAN partying" at these Festivus's? i.e. 4 player M.U.L.E. on an Atari 800 or something? :) On Wed, Nov 25, 2015 at 4:41 PM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

Plural is Festivii. :)
i.e. 4 player M.U.L.E. on an Atari 800 or something? :)
I think the most we've done is networked Artillery Duel on C64s. Feel free to bring and set up whatever you like (or arrange it with others), as long as it's nothing modern.
