Ta-da! http://www.vintagecomputerfederation.org This is our new web site. Major thank-you(s) to designer Darren Kerr, his boss Steven Toth for allowing Darren's time on this project during work hours, and Bill Degnan for programming. Also thanks to Dan Roganti for designing the logo. There will be much more content in the days/weeks/months ahead. What's there so far is just the very basics. We are working on a tweak to the mobile version. It works, but you can't see any content loading unless you scroll down, so to a newcomer it appears as if the menu links don't do anything.

Suggestion: rethink the positioning of the logo/non-profit blurb at the top of every section. It uses up a lot of space, forcing the user to scroll down to see the content. Mike Loewen mloewen@cpumagic.scol.pa.us Old Technology http://q7.neurotica.com/Oldtech/

That is a sweet looking logo, Dan
thank you Andy The Web designer added the glowing effect - that looks neat one item about the museum description, Wouldn't you like to use the commonly established colloquial phrase "brick and mortar museum" instead of the plain-jane "physical museum". Even a virtual museum is physical to some extent -- when sitting in someone's basement. This museum far more significant seeing how it's located inside a national landmark now. Dan

I agree with "brick and mortar" vs. "physical museum". Somehow it makes it sound and feel more tangible.

Excellent news, well done everyone! -- Steven Toth - Kernel Labs http://www.kernellabs.com +1.646.355.8490
We made some improvements to the new site. Design-wise, Darren shrunk the logo and eliminated the horizontal gray bar that separated the header from the content. Now the design is tighter (that's a good thing) and it works better on mobile devices. Content-wise, I changed some of the menus from the original version and added a lot of useful information. Some things (such as details about upcoming Festivals) are still being determined.
If I had one bit of extra feedback, it'd be to to shrink down the tagline some. It takes up about 1/3 of the page on mobile. Definitely better with the shrunken logo, though! Kyle

I see your point, but it's a "responsive" design so if I shrink it then it would look worse on desktops. Current version is a good compromise.
Why can't there be two versions? One mobile, one desktop? On Friday, December 4, 2015, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

That's a valid design philosophy -- some organizations have the full desktop site and then limited content on their mobile site. Your friendly local web committee :) decided that's an outdated approach. In 2015 it's better to have everything accessible from all devices. It gets to be less of an issue every day as more people use smartphones with densely pixeled screens.
