New acquisition at CDL
New acquisition at CDL! We just picked up a 3 kVA transformer to convert the Camp Evans 120/208 volt three phase service to single phase 120/240 volt. Part number is Square D 3S1F Will be available for workshops, fitting with twist-lock and straight-blade receptacles on the output side. Martin Flynn
This is good timing, I was just about to post two things I was going to bring to Festivus if the hackerspace (or, failing that, anyone else) could use them: - A 3kVA potted wall-mount transformer for 240 or 480v to 120/240 (or the other way around). EGS part HS5F3AS. Needs to be wired up to both feed and receptacles, rated for outdoor use. Pictures on request if you want, it has a very clear wiring diagram on the outside label. Heavy (55 lb), but not huge. Product page: http://www.solahdsales.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=HS5F3AS It’s a decent unit, but my requirements changed and I no longer need it (for the curious: I have a 240v run out to my server rack and I wanted to be able to run 120v off the same run without unbalancing the phases, but now I have a UPS that does this for me). - A Sunkko 737G spot welder meant for 18650-ish batteries. Decent unit for nickel/steel strip, but I needed something that would spot weld pure copper strip, which this doesn’t. If you’re recycling lightly used battery packs or building new ones, you want something like this (but you want it on a real 20A circuit or it will trip the breaker). Can be modified for 240v use and also beefed up a bit in the secondary if you look up some specifics. Has the optional footswitch and a bunch of nickel strip, and I think I have spare electrodes here somewhere, but they’re easy to get on AliExpress. Anyway, let me know if the hackerspace would use one or both, and I’ll bring them, otherwise I’m happy to give them to anyone who wants to do some potentially inadvisable things with electricity. - Dave
