A few years ago we had a contest to come up with the worst movie. A few years too late I have my pick. I will be showing it at Festivus. It will be a surprise. You will all think that it is horrible. I plan on using my laptop to show movies, etc. in the cafeteria. It will mostly be background noise and diversion since that room isn't conducive to movie watching or hearing what's on the TV very well. But, I also bought a FireStick and if anyone wants to watch movies in the lounge area, then I can make that available. The lounge area is more of a proper movie room because it is quiet, dark and has comfy chairs. We will also be showing Chris Liendo's Commodore video. -- ========================================= Jeff Brace Vice President Vintage Computer Federation
If you need if for some reason you need another projector I have one that will accommodate video and VGA but I do not have an extra screen if you need it just ask Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

Looks like my FireStick won't make it in time for Festivus. Does anyone have one that we can borrow for Saturday?

No, it doesn't. it just seems to be the easiest way to plug into a smart TV and connect to the Wi-Fi and show whatever movies or TV show and she wants. Do you have something else in mind? On Wed, Dec 4, 2019 at 2:27 PM Sentrytv <sentrytv@yahoo.com> wrote:

We can connect any media device (laptop, DVD player, Betemax (considering our audience!)) directly to the TV or projector. On Wed, Dec 4, 2019, 2:29 PM Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Of course. I have my laptop setup in the cafeteria. We could setup another laptop in there as well. My idea was to have access to YouTube, Disney+, Netflix, CBS All Access, Prime Video. I had not planned on doing a projector because we tried that last year without much success. Too much trouble (hours of preparation and hooking up) to get a projector, screen, speakers etc. for only 5 people to show up. The point is to make it simple and casual.

Hmm I could bring a laser projector and DAC? RGB vector output. The software that drives it should have some holiday content in the collection of shows I have. I can't leave it unattended though. - Ethan
I agree with Jeff that we should use the TV that's already on the wall, not set up our big screen and a projector. Keep it simple. On Thu, Dec 5, 2019, 8:37 AM Ethan O'Toole via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Ethan, Thanks for the offer, but I think it best to keep it simple. This is a party, people are excited to see and talk with each other as they don’t see each more than once or twice per year. Most people don’t want to sit and watch a whole movie. I’m just going to run some videos and movies with low volume as background noise and those few that want more can go to the comfy lounge and watch on the TV.
