OT - Help Identifying Connector
Can anyone tell me what type of connectors (4 pin and 6 pin) are on this item, and if they are readily available (preferably with wires already terminated)?? https://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Vintage-Screen-Electronic-Picture/dp/B09DXST3... Thanks in advance!
Hard to say without measuring the pitch of the connectors, but they certainly look like JST XH-series connectors, which have a 2.5mm pitch. https://www.adafruit.com/product/4876 On Thu, Jul 18, 2024, 15:00 Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Of course the battery is dead on my calipers! I used a small ruler and 2.5mm looks right. Thanks for the info. On Thu, Jul 18, 2024 at 4:18 PM Kyle Owen via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

LPT If it's like the Harbor Freight Calipers, you gotta take the battery out to save it! It's always listening to soft startup. And to replace it is kind of a PITA. It's confusing as to the size and style of battery. IIRC the proper one is some kind of silver thing with higher output than the ones you find ... say ... in the harborfreight button cell battery set. - Ethan
Thanks all for the responses to my question. Based on your suggestions, I tried these (below) which worked! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L6QFXRT On Thu, Jul 18, 2024 at 4:18 PM Kyle Owen via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Have you fired it up yet? I'm curious to know if they're actually PAL (by default) as I had read some time ago. I've still not tried any of the ones that I picked up from AliExpress last year, but I will soon. Thanks again for sliding me a set of cables while you were here! -Dave On 7/30/24 08:57, Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

All I did so far is apply power. I see the filament glowing. I don't see a raster, so I assume it needs a signal or maybe also pots on the contrast and brightness. Not geared up to provide those connections yet, my workbench is a mess! On Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 10:12 AM Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I can’t tell you much about the connectors, even though they look pretty standard, but it sure looks like that this CRT is from one of those Sony “mega” black-and-white TVs I wonder if that’s where it came from. Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

I am wondering too. They look cool and the price is pretty good so I had to get one. On Thu, Jul 18, 2024 at 4:29 PM Sentrytv <sentrytv@yahoo.com> wrote:

I've not yet identified the connectors, but I did pick up a few of these from AliExpress last year. They still have them, $7.35/ea. No typo there. You can fondle one when you visit next week, if you like. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
So while it doesn't have the connector specs, the following website appears to have alot of technical detail by somebody who bought one: https://geeseang.wordpress.com/experiment-with-sony-flat-4inch-crt/ Devin On Thu, Jul 18, 2024 at 4:44 PM Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:
