Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Free ASR32 on Facebook Marketplace in NJ
The ASR 32 and 33 differ in only a few places many parts are interchangeable. The 33 is the "free terminal" that came with many minicomputers od the 60s like a keyboard and mouse comes with todays' Dell computer. The early homebrew era computers often used asr33 teletypes as the terminal and program storage. That's why a computer hobbyist might want the parts from a free asr32 to use for repairs of a 33. Now I'm curious... what are the "useful parts"? And what would one use them for?

My thoughts exactly. The M32 can be used for RTTY or interfacing to an earlier electromechanical system. Doesn’t need to be a computer.
Adapters can also be fabricated to translate the Baudot into ASCII as well.
At the end of the day though it’s free, if you get it can you really complain? Tinker with it and if it’s not your cup of tea, pass it on to someone who will enjoy it!

Ethan, I'm pretty sure your M15 and your M32 can talk to each other. Make sure to wire the M32 selector magnets in parallel for 60mA loop vs series for 20mA loop and run the loop directly to the selector magnets (I don't recall if the M32 has a LESU or not).

I'm surprised there is so much interest in a baudot machine.
Me too. I have one, and I only got it because I also happen to have a Model 15, not that they can talk to each other (being free for the cost of gas was an essential point - I wouldn't have paid $$$ for it)
