wide printer to donate if it works/fixed at workshop
Does anybody have Epson T007 or T009 inkjet cartridges? I will donate an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 model P158A to the museum if we get it running. I think it needs new cartridges, or tricked out to accept them with low/no ink. Centronix and USB interfaces. Prints to 13 inches wide. -- jeff jonas

That would be awesome. Do you think the OpenPrinting.org (Linux driver) will work: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Epson/Epson-Stylus_Photo_1280
speaking of donations... is there a "wish list" or guidelines on what's needed/accepted? Many of us have various pieces of equipment in various states of repair - before I put things on eBay i'd be happy to see if anything is worth donating... on the flip side wondering if the federation has (or should have) an eBay account? if there is excess donated equipment in the museum inventory it could be converted into cash !! - Glenn On Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 7:30 AM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

We don't have a formal list. Considered it, but I would not know what to put on it... we usually do well with one-off requests, such as the printer.

We don't. Turns out the IRS had very strict rules about what a non-profit can/can't do in regards to "de-accessioning" its property. Corey C. can elaborate.
understood. so that means we should sell our own stuff and designate that the we will donate the proceeds to vintagecomputerfederation! maybe even put that in the listing ("proceeds will go to non-profit group to preserve computer history...") to encourage bidders to be generous :-) (ok maybe that's a little naive ...) That would be very much appreciated. :)

I have to discourage that. We've been professionally advised not to let anyone do anything that could be portrayed as representing us. IRS, tax issues, potential for abuse, etc.
Now that Glenn got me thinking about it... - We're still in need of a large-ish handtruck with pneumatic wheels (not hard rubber ones) - We could use a few furniture dollies of various sizes - We always need standard-size banker's boxes Everyone should keep in mind that if it's stuff you are getting rid of because it is too decrepit for your own use, then please do not "donate" it to us. We have plenty of our own garbage. :)
Yes, we can also use one or two large 30 gallon trash cans (outdoor type with wheels) along with contractor grade trash bags. On Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 1:40 PM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

HP DesignJet 1050C printers and similar have a power supply issue where a single cap goes bad and the printer will not power on. So if you can find one that does not power on, just warm the PSU board with a hair dryer, it will come on, then let it cool down, keep cutting board area in half and you will narrow it down quickly. I want to say the bad cap sits on it's own. This worked for my 36" printer, and a friend got the 42" model with the 6 ink carts and same trick fixed his. That being said, I can print stuff if you need it printed. I run expired ink carts and heads so they're cheap, PDF/vector files best.
