World Computer Day - 2022 Theme: 6502 Chip!
Not sure if anyone had heard about this, but very cool: https://worldcomputerday.org/ I never even knew that there was a World Computer Day! ========================================= Jeff Brace VCF National Board Member Chairman & Vice President Vintage Computer Festival East Show-runner Vintage Computer Federation is a 501c3 charity http://www.vcfed.org/ jeffrey@vcfed.org
In looking at the list of sponsors I noted this in Phila: https://thecompuseum.org/home perhaps something everyone here (but me) knows about? But seems like yet another computer museum [501(c)3]. Their description is about what they "will" be doing/showing so this seems to be in a formative stage (?) long list of "supporters" https://thecompuseum.org/supporters. They offer a "speakers bureau" list - source for speakers on various topics. apologies if this is old news... - glenn -----Original Message----- From: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic-bounces@lists.vcfed.org> On Behalf Of Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2022 8:50 AM To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: Jeffrey Brace <jeffrey@vcfed.org> Subject: [vcf-midatlantic] World Computer Day - 2022 Theme: 6502 Chip! I don't see any evidence of it being a museum either virtual or brick and mortar. I don't see any evidence of it being a 501c3. It just seems to be some guy who created a website who is enthusiastic about vintage computers and organizes virtual events. I read all the details of what he posted on his website, only a cursory glance. I was also informed today that attempts by another member to contact the organizer went unsuccessful. It also seems like there are only stock photos on the site rather than ones that were taken by the organizer. I heard that there are some people on an exclusive mailing list where he is organizing the virtual event through Zoom tomorrow. I first heard about this event today through Bill Mensch and Stephen Cass. The organizer seems to have interviewed Bill Mensch and Liza Loop.
apologies if this is old news...

Note sure if it counts as "evidence", but I think Glenn was referring to the tagline at the bottom of the page:
"COMPUSEUM IS A REGISTERED 501(c)3 CHARITY"
Yes. You are correct I didn't notice on my cursory looks at the website. I think the confusion was that I was talking about https://worldcomputerday.org/ and then Glenn was talking about: https://thecompuseum.org/home. I did verify with the IRS that it is indeed a 501c3 non-profit organization. It was established in 2016. There don't seem to be any assets or money coming in. So not sure what happens when you donate to the button on https://worldcomputerday.org/ .
