Who attended HOPE 2022? I didn't go but I'm looking for opinions on it

I didn't go, but went to a ton of HOPE conferences. Beyond Hope in 1998 up to the most recent one at Hotel Penn. I think I missed two in that range. Friends went to the recent one, but I skipped out. Too busy and I have beef with one of their policies. I asked the same question of friends that went. Friends said the 2 talks they went to seemed like they were put together last minute. They said the venue is way far out, and that was something of a turn off. It was a big space though with some possibilities for the future. They didn't seem very impressed and are hoping it gets better in the future. Attendance they guessed was 400 - 500 which seemed odd, they cut off registration earlyish and one of them had to buy a ticket in the used market. I hope 2600 can pull through. It's like a comfort food, I grew up listening to Off the Hook episodes from real media files dumped to minidisc for those long nighttime drives. But then they just kept doing fundraisers for WBAI, over and over. The content lost out. As a non-local, I don't care that much. Move to online streaming and stop playing by the government rules, and put the effort into better content. Every episode was a fundraiser, to pay landlords. Screw the landlords. There was some kind of call out to MAGFest slack where they were looking for all kinds of AV resources due to some issue with their vendor not coming through or demanding more money. Not sure what that was about or who helped. I volunteered a bunch with HOPE through the years. I have my opinions but want to see their success. Every time I would write off HOPE that there wouldn't be anything interesting compared to other cons since they seem a bit behind in tech or whatever, some talk would blow it away or be awesome or some guy would get arrested by the FBI or what have you. Would like to hear other opninons. Maybe they will post video from the event. - Ethan
