Good inexpensive storage in NJ
So I recently got storage in NJ because storage in NYC is just too expensive. I wasn't there a year and they greatly increased price. I have a 5x12 and I went from $97 to $156. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good storage company that is not that expensive?
I have tried to find storage for my car. They run anywhere from $275-$300 for something that will fit a 19 foot car. I used to pay $125 in Metuchen New Jersey to store my car and I gave it up this past April. One of the stupidest thing I ever did. As for storage for my PC stuff I haven’t found anything reasonably priced. Mike R. Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

I don’t have that good of a rate. I have been using Extra Space Storage for a few years now. It was reasonable at the beginning. Prices keep going up. I’m not liking it. Jeff Jonas seems to think that if you move to a new space within the same building, then you can get the “new tenant” rate. So you would keep shifting around once every 6 months or so. I will find out. Mine keep going up. I want to move one of my units closer to the other one anyway, but may just consolidate into one. I’ve been procrastinating the consolidation. I haven’t priced the smaller storage companies yet. On Sun, Sep 10, 2023 at 12:29 PM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Seems to me it’s very inconvenient to keep moving the stuff around every time, every six months, To save money and to get that “introductory rate”. When I had my television shop (and after I closed it ) I had storage units, two of them, for the better part of 10 years. I just said one day they have to go and got rid of it all. Yes, my basement and garage are now full. But I’m still looking for storage for my car! Now I’m looking to get rid of the stuff in my garage, all of my computer stuff for the most part! I will have a lot of stuff at the swapmeet, I hope the weather is good! Mike R. Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

How about InfoAge set up a member's storage service? On Sun, Sep 10, 2023 at 4:29 PM Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

You know I was thinking the same thing or something very similar. There is so much storage space available in InfoAge that they could rent out space, but that would be a liability and insurance issue. But if it ever did happen and that they wanted to rent out space I would definitely do it. Mike R. Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

Wow... here I thought $190 for my 10x20 commercial storage space here in Pennsylvania was expensive. On Sun, Sep 10, 2023, 1:30 PM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I finally got out of that rat-race and got living arrangements that actually support the kind of life that I want to live. It's such a simple concept, but still it took me decades to figure it out. What keeps me from being angry at myself about that is remembering how many people will never figure it out. :-( It's not practical for all desired lifestyles, mind you, but for doing the kind of stuff that people like us want to do, it definitely is. -Dave On 9/10/23 18:34, Jeff S via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Would it not be possible to have a large shed purchased and installed in your yard? Now I’m going back 20 years but I had a stone base put down (Oz NY landscaping timber and a 10x25 foot shed installed by the Amish for about $5000. That’s about $21 a month over 20 years. I do have investigate to have its shingles replaced. It’s a tall shed so I may ask for a metal roof to match the house. Then the local township raised my realistate taxes because of the shed (sigh), but at least it’s onsite and 20 feet from my shop. $5000 does not sound like much to most. I think the biggest issue here is the “collectible stuff” that most of us have, needs to be in a fairly “controlled environment “. I know that most of what I have in the garage is subject to temperature changes throughout the seasons, But not temperature swings as if it were outside in the hot sun or the cold wind. Aside from a few glass electron tubes imploding, I haven’t had any “casualties”. So my point here is: a storage unit that is between other storage units or inside a building would be considered more desirable. The Reason why some of us pay more. Mike R.
