Power restored yesterday at 3:00 AM - received a "no power notification" from the FiOS ONT at 08:25 this morning. the Cisco 4900M WAN switch (upstream of the firewalls) failed to recover when power was restored, Replacement unit in route. Martin
Power went out this morning around 9, which is not surprising considering the substation is flooded at the moment On Sun, Sep 27, 2026, 10:44 AM Martin A. Flynn via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Just received the "power restored" message from Verizon. (11:02 AM) David F from the network team will be on site shortly to patch around the failed 4900M to restore internet to the campus. Martin

We have lots of 4900M spares; if you are missing something, ping me and I'll fedex it over. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Dave, InfoAge has three in production use at the moment. If it would not be too big of an ask, I would like to have a spare chassis and power supplies as the power quality at Camp Evans continues to get worse by the day. Are you coming to Festivus? Maybe avoid the FEDEX charges Martin
Has anybody had an electrician come check the power gear? If it continues like that it could go from an inconvenience to a major hazard. A lot of the equipment there is very old. Jamie Sent from my iPhone

Jamie, After the outage last month, it was recommenced to InfoAge management that they engage a PE or Master Electrician to assess the condition of the 4160V distribution system that is owned by Wall Township. For clarity, all of the IT equipment damaged or impacted during the last outage was located in buildings that were fed by the substation on the back of the hotel. Well, I sincerely hope they take that to heart and do what needs to be done. It would be a shame if it gets much worse and becomes an even bigger problem! Thanks for the info Jamie Sent from my iPhone

It's not too big of an ask; I'm happy to provide it.

Yeah 4900Ms are awfully heavy for their size. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Festivus. If you don't need it right away, maybe we can "nerd train" it out there. People from the NJ crew visit LSSM every so often; I can take the stuff over there for someone's next visit. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Dave, Thanks! "Nerd train" works for me - Use case is a bench spare, so hopefully we have time. VY 73 Martin W2RWJ
