I always liked the c128, being it was my first Commodore. I have a pretty good GEOS 128 setup and I use it to connect to IRC chat. Because it c128 is also essentially a c64, I feel that the modern dongle for tcp/ip finally put the c128 over the top compared to a c64 as far as desirability goes. In fact, I rately use a c64. Anyone else have the same perspective? And, I am testing c128's at the moment, they hold up well. I have 4 or 5 working systems to put up on Ebay soon, leaving me with plenty others. I bet many c128's will still work in 30 years. Very solid (state) computers. Bill Degnan twitter: billdeg vintagecomputer.net
I owned a C64, but when I was younger I desired a 128. I didn't get one until much later in life. I really liked the 128D. I thought it was aesthetically pleasing. It was a good looking computer. For some people that's not important. It is to me. It's one of the many reasons I like SGIs. To me the 128 is a computer that became better with time. When I was younger I heard a lot of people say, "don't get the 128 because most developers didn't develop apps for 128 Mode". They wrote for the C64 as there was a larger user base and not as much adoption of the 128. The introduction of the Atari ST and Amiga didn't help. But in time as people worked on that machine, applications came out that took advantage if it's capabilities. It is one of those machines you can still work on. It is a rather great computer that wasn't given it proper treatment when it was released.
I have one C128, one C64c, 5 C64's, and a VIC 20. I honestly don't know how I ended up with so many C64's.. LOL On Mon, Sep 18, 2017 at 7:33 AM, Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:
