Yes!
I can't speak for everyone here but I prefer to restore as much as possible.
But as the years go by that become tougher to do. The parts aren't made
anymore, they're more scarce, they're much more expensive. I think you get
the point. At that point it's time to make a decision for one or the other.
I'm of the opinion if there's no other way to get it working other than
using new parts/technology, then do it.
Of course I'm playing with my Atari 800xl and hope to drop a 65C816 and
FPGA into it. I just resist hacking them (and they are so common that it's
not a sin if I can restore it back without damage). :-)
