Evan,
Given what I've seen on fb... you really should just do a 64 bit install of a currentLinux version so that you're not trying to mix and match 32 and 64 bit libraries/programs/stuff.Besides, you won't be able to access all of your 16gb of ram at once w/ a 32 bit install.

Not using a USB adapter. Mobo has a traditonal serial port.
