Hi Dan,
   There is very good local electronics store local to me in Pompton 
Plains in northern NJ.  It's called Wayne Electronics and is my "go to" 
place if I need a part for a project on short notice.  They have a 
decent assortment of TTL & CMOS IC's, discrete components, connectors, 
wire and lots of other stuff.  The also periodically get some vintage 
radios and test equipment in.  The owner is great to deal with.
