I know I am generally quiet on this list but this one caught my
attention for some reason.
The workstation appears to be a IMI-500 workstation wITH 4K graphics
(pretty impressive for the day). I believe that I read it was the
IMI-500 with a Cray for image rendering that was used for the Last
Starfighter movie.
Here are a few references
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Productions - Wikipedia Article on
the manufacturer of the workstation
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?arnumber=1674340 - There is
an add for the workstation at the bottom of the page.
https://www.computer.org/csdl/mags/cg/1985/09/mcg1985090007.pdf - an
article on how they used the IMMI-500 backed by a DEC Mini for rendering
the final images.
