As mentioned, in part, a week or two ago: we're embarking on a museum improvement binge! Some improvements will be aesthetic (lighting, decorations), some will be interpretive (kiosks, circuit wall), and others will be infrastructure (electrical, safety).

The improvements are underway and will happen a little at a time. For example, last weekend we resumed work on the modern history exhibit, and we had the electrician visit to prepare a quote for more power (minicomputers, start your engines!) and better lights.

This weekend we're swapping out the Univac display case for a brand new one. We only ever bought or scrounged used display cases, so it's a pleasure to get something new and shiny. The new one is six feet tall, locks, and has lights for each shelf. It also has a smaller footprint than the old case (40" vs. 60") so we can display more Univac artifacts in a smaller space. In addition to our currently displayed Univac artifacts (half-adder, flip-flop, coincidence detector), we will add to the display a manual from a Univac 1 and a desk fan John Mauchly brought home from his office.

Special thanks to the four VCFed members who jointly funded the new display case.
