Yes, Hammond paints seem to have varied a lot, back in the day.  Also, the seem to react differently to age.  I have a pair that are in poor shape that (one assumes) started out the same color and encountered the same environments but the paint on one is significantly darker than the other.

anyone ever notice the difference in color of the Hammond clamshell case ?
I dug out my JS-1 joysticks, which I picked up over the years, looking them over cause one of them needs a rebuild. I have a 3rd spare in case I needed parts, and the top cover of the clam shell has a different color. The bottom of the clamshell has the same blue color on all of them. One color is beige, and the other is a light gray. But they are original. I just never noticed they went thru a color change.
