Other people likely know more than I on this. But plastic in general 
gets brittle with age, and generally repairs depend on the specific 
plastic. Flexible plastics break with repeated flexure, age, and 
exposure. Fixes may be replacement or reconstruction, or very specific 
solvent-type or heat-type glues. Get experienced advice, no need to 
reinvent and rediscover what doesn't work.
