[vcf-midatlantic] OT: Grub question

Are you saying that you ran fdisk with the /mbr switch and that didn't
remove grub?  Just deleting the partition won't reset the master boot
record, but the /mbr switch installs the dos bootloader (which replaces
grub).

If that didn't work then I'm not sure.
