Adam, while I was glad when you told me you found a job, got an apartment lined up down in SC, it was a bittersweet conversation since it meant you were going for sure.
I am glad you will be continuing as the social media specialist, the Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts have never been so lively and well received.
For those reading this other than Adam, my seat On the Steering Committee will also be going up for election. We all agreed when the National Board created the Steering Committee that we would have two seats go up for election at the end of the first year with subsequent elections in the years immediately following (details to be announced as Adam already mentioned)
Since we were appointed and not elected, we needed to get membership input quickly, but not rush things before we even figured out what the Steering Committee is, it’s responsibilities etc., and a year for the first two of the five seats seemed a reasonable amount of time.
We also agreed we would stagger the elections over a few years so each year there wasn’t a total changing of the guard with the learning curve starting all over again for the entire SC.
I will gladly continue on the Steering Committee if that’s what the membership wants. The Board put me there, but it should be the membership that keeps me there (or not!)
Regardless of the outcome of the election in December I will continue to docent at the museum and work in the warehouse etc as the Steering Committee sees fit.

Circumstances dictated that such an election was not possible at the time and I agreed to serve with the agreement that my position would be put up for election in December 2020. At the time, I fully intended to run for re-election (well, election), however, in light of my relocation, I have made the decision that I cannot fully function as a Steering Committee member from South Carolina and, as such, will not be seeking (re-)election. My regular work in the warehouse will also have to stop, for obvious reasons, although I'm planning to visit a few times each year to do what I can do to help.

What I'm hoping to do with this email is to get people thinking about running for the Steering Committee for an election in December.

I and the other Steering Committee members are also more than happy to answer questions about the position here publicly.
