[vcf-midatlantic] Mac SE PRAM battery - replace with a holder

FYI, with a standard holder, it won’t clear the metal cage properly so I just went with the axial-lead battery. Works great and the SE lives. A lower-profile holder may work. The pins are properly spaced.

Not I need to back up stuff on it. Maybe a few megs at most. Will probably use diskettes, but I may also try Terminal and a null modem to my PC (my latest favorite transfer method).

Subject: Mac SE PRAM battery - replace with a holder

I just dug out my old Mac SE to check the battery and it needs replacing. In the SE, it’s soldered to the motherboard.

I have replacements, both with leads (the original) and without (to be used with a holder). Other than not being original, any concerns or pitfalls with this approach?

I couldn’t think of any but I thought I’d throw it to the group. I still need to check the clearance on the cage, though.

Rich
