[vcf-midatlantic] Help! I cant get asciiexpress to work with my II Plus

I have an Apple II Plus, and have been been having limited success in
trying to get asciiexpress.net to work with it.  I can successfully
load _some_ games (Dig-Dug and Montezuma's Revenge), but I cannot get
the vast majority of game titles to load.  And I have been having zero
luck getting the disk image downloads to work; usually, it will start
the self-extractor app and then give me a checksum error before
failing.  I had heard somewhere that interference from other cables
could be the culprit and that using a Monster aux cable had good
results, so I picked one up.  No luck, unfortunately.

Has anybody else experienced similar problems, and if so, how did you
resolve them?
