The 12887 chip should be functionally identical to the 14287. However I
would reach out just to be sure.

I picked one of these up not too long ago to to fix a pentium board. I am
going to be at the workshop and can bring the chip to test in your machine
if you would like?

 I’ll be available Saturday and Sunday.
