Dean, Neil - we should meet up and discuss further...
I'm doing some things and I may have 10-15 Atari Fujinets available for use at VCF for the classroom....
This would greatly simplify your setup - no need for any disk drives - unless you want a couple for the feels of a disk.
But with every classroom Atari FujiNet enabled (it works fine with a 1050 connected on SIO) you could really go do some cool classroom related work that would incorporate the Fujinet in BASIC.
There is the classic Mastodon example in basic and a whole new set of small sample apps for testing the FN Network libs.

https://github.com/FujiNetWIFI/fujinet-apps/tree/master/mastodon/atari <https://github.com/FujiNetWIFI/fujinet-apps/tree/master/mastodon/atari>
(the basic app is on the ATR disk image)
You can use the built-in BASIC of the XLs or even the new FASTBasic:
https://github.com/dmsc/fastbasic <https://github.com/dmsc/fastbasic>
https://github.com/dmsc/fastbasic/blob/master/manual.md#fujinet-statements <https://github.com/dmsc/fastbasic/blob/master/manual.md#fujinet-statements>
(make sure you read the above if anything in this email)
Fastbasic is like action, can be written and complied on modern PCs (to enable you to come up with work for the classroom very easy) or be edited and compiled on the Atari itself....and has enhanced FujiNet support built in. The classic BASIC works because FN acts like another CIO device on the Atari- it's just way more verbose to use.
So yeah, there are some opportunities here to do something cool and relevant with modern Internet - which is the entire point of the FujiNet project.
