swap meet: looking for

I'm looking for a iMac G3 tray loader- the earlier colored G3 233mhz iMacs with tray-loading CDROMs, not slot loading. If you have one you want to unload, and are going to the swapmeet let me know and I'll probably buy it from you. -andy

Swap Meet update
by Jeffrey Brace 05 Apr '21

05 Apr '21

So far 21 people have signed up as vendors taking a total of 28 spaces so far. I have been spreading the word far and wide to many different places. If you know of a spot that I haven't touched, then let me know. I still have a few places to put the word out. I have heard from many people that they are excited about the event from both vendors and potential buyers. It will be nice to see not only faces that I see every month at the repair workshops, but others who come once a year and that I haven't seen for a while. If you haven't signed up yet, then there is still time and *plenty* of space in the parking lot. My dream is to one year fill up the entire parking lot with vendors and people! VCF Museum on Wheels!
by Jeffrey Brace 02 Apr '21

02 Apr '21

We have been planning to have a mobile museum for a long time and Covid-19 has inspired us to implement this plan faster. At first we were looking into getting a bus inexpensively because a lot of the schools needed the extra cash, but we found a great partnering program in our investigation. We have partnered with Tesla for funding so we were able to get an electric bus. So will be renovating our new bus into a mobile vintage computer museum! We still have to decide on which computers we will have in this museum and periodically change them out. This is a great chance to be able to take our museum *to* the schools instead of the other way around. Plus it is Covid-19 regulation compliant with a limited number of students on the bus at one time. Many schools will be having more cash available for programs like this due to the Covid-19 relief package passed by Congress, so they will have money available for extra programs like ours. Over the next few months we will be retrofitting our bus and hope to have it ready by September. Other fun ideas are that we will serve period specific snacks to visitors including pop rocks, kool aid and twinkies, etc. ========================================= Jeff Brace Vice President & Board Member Vintage Computer Festival East Show-runner Vintage Computer Federation is a 501c3 charity http://www.vcfed.org/ jeffrey(a)vcfed.org -- ========================================= Jeff Brace Vice President & Board Member Vintage Computer Festival East Show-runner Vintage Computer Federation is a 501c3 charity http://www.vcfed.org/ jeffrey(a)vcfed.org

PEP Modular Computer
by Neil Cherry 01 Apr '21

01 Apr '21

I have just pulled out my PEP Modular computer with a 68K KA. I think it has 1M of RAM and possibly 13 serial ports (9, 15 and 25 pin ports). I think this also has a parallel port of two but isn't broken out. I haven't tried to start it yet. I need to remove the drives, let them warm up and see if they work. There is one floppy which I think is a 800K drive and two hard drives. I'll boot the machine and see if I can get into the ROM monitor. A quick check of ebay reveals this thing cost only slightly less than it did when it was new. ;-) -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry(a)linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies

Museum Report 2021-03-31
by Jeffrey Brace 01 Apr '21

Typically Wednesdays are slow, but today there was an avalanche of people! 212 people to be exact. Apparently today was Passover Day of Learning so there were a lot of Lakewood residents visiting InfoAge and all the museums. I arrived at 2PM and helped out Bill Inderrieden. We tag teamed the groups of visitors coming in. It was a steady flow of people from the moment I got there at 2PM until 5PM when we had to close. April Swap Meet Wanted (also)

Hello! For anyone also coming to the April 24 swap meet: In my case I am looking for practically the entire AMD AM25 logic line. Also the members of the Series 74 TTL line from TI. (The entire AM29 series would be nice.) I have a short list posted on my website under parts wanted. http://www.gregg.levine.name it is found there. But I am discovering that I need others. Wanted: Atari 800XL mobo, Amiga 600 mobo (needs repair is ok)
by Ethan O'Toole 29 Mar '21

29 Mar '21

Hello all, Two projects that have been kicking my butt... an Atari 800XL motherboard repair and an Amiga 600 motherboard repair. I'm interested in an 800XL board, and it can be incomplete! Missing a custom chip or two? Not an issue. I have a great case and a board that looks great but it crashes. Something physical, and it might be a trace that is split but not visible or a passive. All the customs tested fine and I've tested like 80% of the common chips and they were fine. Second up... Amiga 600 motherboard. I am repairing one, looking for another one. Okay if it needs repair. These suffer cap damage and I've spent hours and hours trying to fix mine. It's really not much better than an A500, and I have a A2500 and A4000T that are better. but I miss having it working. Any leads appreciated. Just tired of seeing the systems in parts.

B https://www.breadbox64.com/c64-hardware/commodore-64/assy-250425-rev-b/. If your site is more trustworthy, then I would assume that breadbox64.com is just wrong and there is *only* a Rev. B version. I might need a third opinion to verify. > I don't recall seeing a Rev. A sell by itself to know how much it goes > for. I do know that silver labels with Rev. Identifying C64 motherboards

Hey everyone. I want to start knowing all the differences between motherboards for the C64. A Google search shows some website, but some have mistakes. I prefer a site which has a picture and not a schematic. Part of the reason is to know the differences for repairing, and part is for selling. I believe that Rev. A are worth more. Anyone know about selling price for this version of the motherboard? Thanks! OSI Challenger IIP

There's a pretty nice OSI Challenger 2P for sale on Ebay at the moment. It's a one drive system but I don't see any floppies included with the lot however. You don't see the 2P as much as the other OSI's for sale on Ebay. Related....I donated one to MARCH many years ago, It was on display last time I was there but I don't know if anyone ever did anything with it. The computer worked when I donated it, you all should check it out, see if it still works. Fastest 6502 BASIC of its era, beats the Apple II soundly. Bill

Swap Meet Interest: POWER6
by Lou 25 Mar '21

25 Mar '21

Good call Alex, I should have done that before! The two systems are IBM POWER6 8203-E4A 520 Express systems. Upright/desktop configuration. One powers on but has board issues. Might be resolved with some work. The second one works fine and I had plans for it (even bought a video card for it) but I never got around to fully using it and is currently just sitting. I wanted to fix the other one and sell that one off but time and health are not in my best currently. The one that does work also has two hard drives. And if I recall correctly they are both PowerVM capable. I really didn't want to consider selling both of them but I rather it be seen used sooner than later to someone who can give them attention. Plus there's a bigger fish I'm on the pursuit of that I need to put some of my better resources to. Finally, as for the Sun E450, that powers on and boots, but there's a slew of issues that it has when I ran it through diag. I had a planned use for it that I no longer need it for, so I plan on selling that too if anyone wants a project. If Anyone out there is interested hit me up privately. I'm not looking for unreasonably high prices. But I would like to get something I can put towards my more important projects down the pipe. Trades might be welcome as well depending on what they are. Cheers! -Lou On Thu, Mar 25, 2021, 8:01 AM <vcf-midatlantic-request(a)lists.vcfed.org> wrote: > Send vcf-midatlantic mailing list submissions to > vcf-midatlantic(a)lists.vcfed.org > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.vcfed.org/mailman/listinfo/vcf-midatlantic > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > vcf-midatlantic-request(a)lists.vcfed.org > > You can reach the person managing the list at > vcf-midatlantic-owner(a)lists.vcfed.org > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of vcf-midatlantic digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Swap Meet Interest

I might be interested in those Watchguards as well, hell at least one of them might be useful enough for what I plan on using them for. That also said since this is brought up I might as well throw in here that I might be considering bringing down some IBM POWER6 hardware to the meet if there is any interest. One of them has board issues which I was planning on fixing at some point but they are just too large and heavy to deal with in my current life situation. The other one seems to work fine however. I also have a Sun E450 that needs some TLC as well, that's been in storage for awhile. I can bring any of these machines down if there is interest in them. I would prefer to not have to bring them back home with me if I did take them out of my house/storage. Swap meet interest
by Kelly Leavitt 23 Mar '21

23 Mar '21

Anyone interested in mid 2000's servers? I have several. If there is interest, I can bring them to the swap meet. They're big Dells, heavy and have no SCSI drives. Otherwise, the free e-cycling event is this weekend. I also have two old watchguard m525 boxes with the CF card removed. I'd like enough money to justify bringing them and to help pay for the spot. Software for the Macintosh 512k?
by Justin Salvato 23 Mar '21

23 Mar '21

Can someone point to where I can buy Apple Macintosh software for the 512k? I can't find much on eBay. I'm assuming software from the 128k runs fine on the 512k, but I can't find much. Thanks! InfoAge Go Fund me pop
by Andrew Diller 22 Mar '21

22 Mar '21

https://gofund.me/f72ab5f0 Yes, we are still looking for donations for the InfoAge Keep the Lights on GFM. Any amount you can donate _will_ help. VCF would not exist except as a listserv and forum if not for InfoAge and the space they provide for all our Mid-Atlantic events and functions! 2020 was hard everywhere, but InfoAge relies on visitors to make money- and those dropped off in 2020 due to COVID. A contribution via the GFM helps to make up that loss and allow InfoAge to provide services for VCF and all the other member organizations that are located at Camp Evans. Please contribute if you can and have not already done so. thanks, -andy diller

Museum Report 2021-03-20
by Jeffrey Brace 20 Mar '21

20 Mar '21

About a dozen visitors stopped by today. Some casual visitors and some high interest. One guy took a short tour, but had high interest and was familiar with a lot of the machines. A teen who builds his own modern PCs had high interest arrived with his mom. He tried out Lunar Lander on the Apple I, Space Invaders on the TI/99A, various demo programs on the Apple //, Textrix on the Unix PC, Minesweeper on the Windows 3.1 machine. I would have had him try some basic programming, but they arrived at 4:30 so they were running out of time before they had to leave shortly before 5. It seems that visitors are increasing at InfoAge. Virtual TCF this Saturday, 03/20
by Neil Cherry 16 Mar '21

16 Mar '21

For those interested in TCF, it will virtual this year. I wasn't able to do a presentation because I was busy taking online classes for work (just Finished Sunday). https://tcf-nj.org/ I'm particularly interested in the AI material. I have a work related class and found it interesting and learned how 'we' (me, a Software Engineer) would use AI in our work. It was an introduction and not actually on AI. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry(a)linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies
