We devoted 10am-5pm today to finishing the move out of our old museum space. InfoAge's forklift, Jon C.'s operater+safety skills, and a whole team of VCF nerds-turned-schleppers made the job easy. Now we're back in conventional workshop mode. :)

Workshop Feb. 27-28: Who's going?

Jeff B. is busy with some stuff, so I'm arranging the next workshop (Feb. 27-28). As already stated, the first half of Saturday will be devoted to moving the big stuff out of our largest old museum room. Stats from the old list

Pre-Federation, the old group's Yahoo discussion list operated from January 2005 to December 2015. The project I mentioned last night (technically early this morning) was to analyze the statistical post trends, just for fun. :) Jonathan G. was the first to raise his hand. He replied with two things: 1. The data at http://www.vcfed.org/evan/legacy_list_stats.xlsx 2. A comment that, "You can clearly see the burst in mails around VCF East each year in the graphs." Jonathan, I'm not sure if you knew this, but the VCF East wasn't always in springtime like it is now. We started with VCF East 3 (2006) and skipped 2010/2013. QI Series M, episode 16, Misconceptions...

To start with, I guess I should warn those who are not familiar with this program that the humor is not for everyone. It goes from very interesting and intellectual (the title "QI" stands for Quite Interesting) to the scatological and rather crass. Anyway, that said, in the episode referenced in the title, the host, Stephen Fry, explains Moore's Law. As he does so, he shows a number of vintage computer items borrowed from Bletchley Park. The episode is the latest one (aired last week I think) and is available on YouTube. Bill S.
