OT: LP transfer in NJ

Halt and catch fire- were the online gaming services really that significant?

Hi ya'll: (1) I never finished watching the series but I was taken back by how big of a deal they present the online gaming development intrigue of that time. I never joined one of those services back then, so I may be totally ignorant of a whole subculture I never got exposed to, but was it really that big of a deal? Was it as compelling as the video series suggests? Did they make very creative use of the C64's abilities that is also suggested? I didn't think so, I never was exposed to the "buzz" of it but I might have just be oblivious. (2) I didn't know anything about PLATO back in the day either, but that, in retrospect seems like it was the promising online system for multi user gaming by creating a terminal environment to encapsulate the experience not unlike how Web browsers did later.

Just an update on my progress! I finished photographing and cataloguing the Apple Mac Plus and later systems and displays, and I am now working on the peripherals and ephemera for those (keyboards, mice, printers, etc.) Next up will be the Apple II era systems. I also have bunch of other collectable but not necessarily vintage Apple devices such as early iPods and iPads, but I think those will wait until the end. Once I reach what I feel is a significant milestone I’ll share the Google doc with the list - but I’m not quite there yet. Bob Shuster

S100 construction (and Clint Law)

The two subjects are unrelated for the purpose of this diacussion (I just need CL's contact info). There was a recent discussion about building a 6800 based s100 board (pretty sure all that is accurate). Well somewhat along those lines is a book I got as an interlibrary loan, 68000 Microcompuyer Systems, Fesigning and Troubleahooting by Alan Wilcox. Just picked it up today, just started perusing it. Looks damned fine. It isn't cheap, around 100$ on Amazon. But you can always borrow it like I have.

OT: Recommendations for Hotels in InfoAge area

To be brief: People are suggesting hotels, but not costs. "Pricey", "affordable", "cheap" are undefined. Well, cost is subject-relevant. If one doesn't want to name their actual cost, maybe they can suggest "affordable from $X to $Y". Because Jersey Shore costs are seasonal, one might also mention the month they stayed. Likely prices in April, are something Jeff Brace can check upon when he produces his recommendation list for publication. Covid shortages will likely raise prices.
