I met up with folks I know from so many other groups/associations/groups - David from Unigroup (NYC's oldest Unix/Linux user group) http://unigroup.org/ - Murph from NJ Linux https://www.meetup.com/NJLinux/ - Chris Liendo, Brian Cirulnick, Saul Trabal from the NY anime club https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Cartoon/Fantasy_Organization - many members of the anthropomorphic community I'm VCF's unofficial tummler ( https://www.wordnik.com/words/tummler ), schmoozing with everybody ( https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/schmooze ). I did my best to be a catalyst to great conversations among folks and direct them to things they'd enjoy. I had lotsa one-on-one quality time with everyone, particularly those I helped load their cars. Everyone saw me delivering heavy items all around. It's hard to be serious when using a genuine Radio Flyer little red wagon https://www.radioflyer.com/shop/all-terrain-wagons.html Believing that few things are truly "off topic", I had toys for kids in the free pile (and saw very happy kids playing with them), and sold a lot of the Playable Metal toys (Tinkertoy for big kids). This is my 10th year of printing the exhibitor/vendor signs (since 2014). I hope they made all the exhibitors & vendors feel welcome and appreciated. -- jeff jonas

I am currently using, for each front panel, an esp8266 driving individual ws2811 LEDs, NOT the light strings; with a refresh rate of over 100 cycles per second. The plan is to drive the IBM 370 / 145 front panel using a Raspberry with Hercules VM/370 emulation. I also have a 3270 display console, that is internally trash, looking to replace the guts with an old VGA monitor connected to another Raspberry PI running 3270 emulation. These front panels weigh a ton, and are made of big IBM iron. I will have a difficult time hauling them to the New Jersey shore from Northern Virginia. I need help cleaning up the space that will become our new warehouse space. I can't do it by myself. Now that VCF East is over, I have a little more time. So I'm proposing May 6 at 10AM to throw out into a big dumpster behind the space on that date. A hoarder who had started multiple successful dot-com era startups was moving to Florida and asked my friend and I to take his hoard of computers. This included systems from his days doing Macintosh repair in the 80s, where customers gave him old systems they no longer had any use for. We filled my SUV, my friend's Subaru Impreza wagon, and I think my friend had to do two or three trips. Some of the highlights: 9 compact Macs, a Tandy CoCo Model 1 with documents and X-10 control unit, a terminal for an HP minicomputer, a VT-420, two PowerBook G3s, boxes of Mac floppy disks, most of Inset Systems corporate diskette library, an obscene number of tape drives, a Corvus Omninet with "Property of Penn-Central" tags on it, flatbed scanners, three Gateway 2000 servers, an enterprise-grade Compaq server with storage, a Commodore 64, a Commodore 128, an Amiga 500, an Amiga 1000, and a "Commodore Development Program" Amiga 2000 with cross compilation hardware for Mac and Windows. - Dan FitzGerald

IMO, go ahead and punish the restaurant. It's a dive bar. When I used to hang out around that area, it was generally a place avoided by myself and any other LGBT people I knew, and this was prior to 2016. If we wanted a bar, we went to Asbury Park somewhere near Cookman Ave. Dan, you said your server was attentive. Does that mean that they were cool and wanted to help out their patrons, or that they wanted your group out of the place as soon as possible? Overall, the Monmouth shore towns tend to be very friendly and accommodating towards LGBT people (especially Asbury and Ocean Grove.) I have no doubt that a report to Neptune PD would be taken seriously. It would likely be added to a list of other incidents reports of things occuring at that bar.
