When the current falls to nearly nothing we increase the voltage another 10%. For very large electrolytics (60,000 uF) we had to leave them on the power supply for up to a week to get maximum capacitance. We also found that we get higher capacitance when reforming them at the operational voltage, and not at the rated voltage. -- Michael Thompson

Atari 1050 disk drive needed

Hello all - Would anyone happen to have an Atari 1050 disk drive/power brick I could borrow for Fesitvus? I am in the process of testing the two machines I'm bringing to display and have discovered neither of my 1050 disk drives power on. The power brick measures ok with no load, but it drops to zero as soon as I plug it in to the drive itself. I'm not sure if the problem lies with the drive or the power brick and I'm not sure I have enough time to figure out as I am leaving in a few hours.Thanks so much.CJ

Twas the night before Festivus

I plan on arriving around 9:30AM to start the setup. Andy Diller and Dmitry will be helping me with setup. Code to get in the door is 6502. Come find me to let me know that you arrived. There are 8 Americorp volunteers staying there, so please be courteous to them. Also be careful offering beers to them as one of them may be under 21. If in doubt let me handle it. Anyone staying overnight is to use the smaller bunk room. If it fills up, then let me know and we can use the bigger bunk room. if people are up for some more modern gaming, bring a non-retro laptop and lets play some games together in a lan party (wifi party). Also, I'm working on a text-adventure game based on the InfoAge buildings and so if you want to work on some puzzles for the game let me know and we can spend some time doing that as well. -andy
