Wow, celebrities in our midst! REXX is fantastic, you did amazing work on that. Your book occupies a prominent spot on my shelves, and we've a copy of it at LSSM as well for use by guests. Speaking of which, you should come out to visit LSSM at some point. We have running S/390 and ES/9000 machines, and some S/370 projects in the works. (not to mention all the DEC machines you've ever heard of, iron from HP, Varian, Cray, Modcomp, Sun, SGI, you name it. Complete, real, non-emulated machines with real peripherals, making the power company happy every day. Japan just got rid of their dependence on floppies. Seems Germany has decided to get with the times. Article suggest that they are using a floppy emulator. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/storage/german-navy-aims-to-repl… Herb and I have been discuss something similar for the last few weeks. I'm adding a floppy emulator to my Peripheral Technologies PT69-5A and PT68K2s. Getting the files from Linux/DOS/Windows to the disk image has been an interesting challenge. And getting the images from the real floppy to the image files another adventure. 5.25 floppy reader & writer adapter

One thing I have never understood is why no one has designed and built a 5.25” floppy drive to USB adapter? (Like the 3.5” ones see all over.) Maybe for a Newer PC to Read and Write . Yes, I know the newer OS’s do not support 5.25” Floppy formats any longer. Yes, I know one is available to read floppies only. BUT, I would just plug a USB adapter into my XP laptop and use it. Easy Peasy It would be so convenient wouldn’t it? Any up to the challenge? After two years of work and a mountain of red tape, Connor Krukosky and I are proud to announce the official opening of the Classical Computing Laboratory at IBM Poughkeepsie! The Classical Computing Laboratory (sometimes shortened to POK-CCL or CCL@POK) is a historical computing center accessible to IBM employees and official site visitors, with the stated goal of our collection being available for hands-on use. IBMers can come in and use the equipment between the hours of 12 and 2 PM every Wednesday, or by special appointment. This presents a number of amazing potential opportunities, ranging from employee experience to education outreach to client/customer relations. We officially opened this past Wednesday, June 26 as part of the annual IBM MHV (Mid-Hudson Valley) Summer Activities Fair; we then continued into the next day for IBM MHV Take Our Children to Work Day. I've put together a Flickr album of photos that Connor and I took during the two events. In all but two cases, I framed the photos to keep visitors' faces obscured -- the important thing to me is seeing people having fun with these machines and using them. Very nice office facility, a likely original setting for most of the equipment displayed. The 5100 caught my eye, what features, how operational? Do you have a Selectric terminal on site?
